Senior Residential Support Worker

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate Senior Residential Support Worker to join our residential home for vulnerable young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. You will help create a safe, nurturing environment and support the day‑to‑day running of the home. This full‑time position involves a 7‑day rota and occasional paid sleep‑ins.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Registered and Deputy Managers in delivering a structured, caring environment.
• Provide primary care including support with food, health, hygiene and daily routines.
• Act as a positive role model and build meaningful relationships with young people.
• Contribute to care planning, attend meetings and maintain accurate records.
• Lead and support staff in shift planning, activity coordination and daily routines.
• Serve as keyworker for assigned young people, monitoring progress and individual needs.
• Uphold safeguarding, regulatory and health & safety standards at all times.
• Supervise junior staff and support their development.
• Participate in mandatory training, on‑call duties and paid sleep‑ins (£50 per night).

Required profile

• QCF/NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in residential childcare, preferably with children who have emotional and behavioural difficulties.
• Knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations and relevant quality standards.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Genuine interest in supporting children with complex needs and commitment to anti‑discriminatory practice.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic IT tools.

• Competitive salary between £30,000 and £35,000 per year.
