Senior Residential Support Worker

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker to join a children’s residential home on the South Coast. In this senior position you will support the management team, lead shift operations and help deliver high‑quality care for young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, lead and manage daily shifts, acting as a positive role model for staff and residents.
• Supervise, mentor and support the professional development of support workers, including induction.
• Provide cover for the Deputy Manager and assist the Registered Manager as required.
• Maintain rotas and ensure adequate shift cover at all times.
• Carry out on‑call duties when needed.
• Uphold safeguarding policies, conduct direct care, keyworking sessions and maintain placement, health and risk‑assessment plans.
• Administer medication where trained and authorised.
• Complete accurate record‑keeping, audits and daily checks within required timescales.
• Maintain the home environment, report maintenance issues and ensure health‑and‑safety standards are met.
• Build strong relationships with local authorities, schools, families and other professionals.

Required profile

• Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in children and young people’s services.
• Proven experience working with children and young people, including managing challenging behaviour.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, prioritise and manage a team.
• Strong written communication skills.
