Senior Revenue Controller

About the role

The Senior Revenue Controller will oversee the end‑to‑end billing cycle for multiple practice groups within a leading American law firm’s European hub in London. The role involves direct interaction with partners and their secretaries, as well as participation in special finance projects.

Key responsibilities

• Arrange monthly meetings with partners to review Work‑in‑Progress (WIP) and Accounts Receivable (AR), determine billing timing and type, and address recoverability issues.
• Generate WIP and AR documentation and maintain accurate records of partner conversations, actions, and follow‑ups.
• Maximise cash collections, minimise irrecoverable WIP or debt balances, and monitor AR in line with agreed procedures.
• Respond to high‑volume billing inquiries, liaise with lawyers on billing issues, and prepare complex invoices ensuring numerical accuracy and compliance with VAT, SAR and AML guidelines.
• Process e‑bills, set up matter templates, enter time‑keeper rates, and manage e‑billing administration.
• Handle write‑offs of irrecoverable time and disbursements, maintain billing templates and special billing rates, and produce regular reports and statistical information.
• Assist Business Development with billing‑related tasks and support the continuous improvement of the finance function.

Required profile

• Proven experience in revenue control, billing cycles and accounts receivable within a professional services environment.
• Strong knowledge of VAT, SAR and AML compliance as they relate to invoicing.
• Ability to work closely with senior partners, provide guidance, and train junior team members.
• Excellent communication and analytical skills, with a focus on cash collection and debt minimisation.

Required skills

• Familiarity with e‑billing platforms and electronic invoicing processes.
• Knowledge of VAT, SAR and AML regulations relevant to billing.
