Senior Risk Manager

About the role

We are looking for a senior‑level professional to lead risk management for a leading UK pensions provider. Reporting to senior executives and trustees, you will shape and embed a robust Risk Management Framework across a fast‑evolving organisation. The role is based in Leeds with a hybrid schedule, two days per week in the office.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and continuously improve the organisation’s Risk Management Framework and Playbook.
• Provide independent risk advisory and assurance, delivering strong challenge to senior stakeholders.
• Present risk insights and forward‑looking analysis to Boards, Executive Committees and other governance bodies.
• Oversee risk reporting, key risk indicators and forward‑looking trend analysis.
• Lead service assurance activities, including control testing and assurance of new propositions.
• Support strategic change initiatives, business transformation and new product propositions.
• Ensure alignment of risk appetite with business strategy.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to embed risk considerations.
• Monitor emerging risks and advise on mitigation strategies.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practice.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in pensions risk management and institutional investment environments.
• Deep understanding of regulatory, investment, operational and reputational risk.
• Proven ability to influence senior leadership and drive division‑wide improvement.
• Strong analytical and communication capabilities.
