Senior Sales Ledger

About the role

The Senior Sales Ledger will lead the billing function for a medium‑sized finance team, ensuring accurate invoicing and smooth revenue capture across multiple service streams. This position is based in Milton Keynes and is ideal for an accounting professional eager to drive financial performance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee end‑to‑end billing for planned maintenance, reactive works, extras and project revenue streams.
• Ensure invoices are raised accurately and on time in line with contracts, rates and commercial terms.
• Establish robust billing controls to minimise errors, omissions and delays.
• Reconcile contracts, charge schedules and approved works to billed values.
• Track and manage customer purchase orders, resolving issues that could delay invoicing.
• Collaborate with Account Managers and operational teams to obtain timely billing information.
• Monitor aged unbilled revenue and drive actions to reduce revenue at risk.
• Work with Credit Control to resolve billing queries and support cash collection.
• Produce and analyse billing KPIs and management reports.
• Lead process improvement initiatives to standardise billing processes and reporting.
• Support finance transformation, shared‑service centre initiatives and system enhancements.
• Manage, develop and mentor the billing team.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a billing leadership, revenue operations or billing management role within a B2B services environment.
• Strong understanding of contract‑based billing, including terms, schedules, rates and milestones.
• Experience managing multiple revenue streams such as maintenance, reactive works and additional services.
• Ability to work closely with cross‑functional teams and hold stakeholders accountable to billing deadlines.
• Track record of delivering accurate, timely invoicing and reducing unbilled revenue.
