Senior Scientific Editor, Cell Genomics

About the role

Cell Press is seeking a full‑time Senior Scientific Editor to join the Cell Genomics team. The role is open to candidates based in the United Kingdom, Spain, the Netherlands or China and focuses on shaping the journal’s scientific content across all areas of genomics.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, recruit and develop high‑impact manuscript submissions.
• Evaluate research papers against journal standards and select expert referees.
• Commission timely content on emerging topics and work closely with authors throughout peer review.
• Write and edit material for the journal’s website and social media channels.
• Contribute to editorial strategy and represent genomics publishing at conferences and research institutions.

Required profile

• Minimum of five years of editorial experience, preferably in scientific publishing.
• Strong background in genomics, genetics or related disciplines with a record of publishing cutting‑edge research.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑moving, intellectually rigorous environment.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Required skills

• Expertise in genomics and genetics literature.
• Familiarity with computational and experimental methods in genomics.
