Senior Social Worker – Children in Need (Permanent)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Social Worker to join our Children in Need Team in Harrow. You will be the allocated professional responsible for assessing, planning, monitoring and reviewing the needs of children requiring protection, those looked after, and those involved in public or private care proceedings.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments for children in need, including protection and care cases.
• Develop and implement assessment, planning, monitoring and review plans for allocated children and families.
• Ensure compliance with the council’s equal opportunity, health and safety, and information security policies.
• Promote the council’s values and contribute to the Service Plan and team priorities.
• Prepare for regular supervision, reflective practice and performance development consultations.
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold best practice standards to achieve positive outcomes for children and families.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker (Level 5 or equivalent) with senior‑level experience.
• Demonstrated experience working with children and families within a local authority setting.
• Strong knowledge of UK child protection legislation and safeguarding procedures.
• Commitment to equality, diversity and promoting inclusive services.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, managing a varied caseload effectively.
