Senior Social Worker – CIN/CP

About the role
Our client Barnsley Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join the CIN/CP team. The role involves working closely with children, young people and families to assess needs, manage risk and deliver effective interventions.
Key responsibilities
- Work in partnership with children, young people and their families/carers, building effective relationships to elicit needs and promote participation in decision‑making.
- Communicate confidently in complex or high‑risk situations, understanding the benefits and limits of partnership work.
- Undertake statutory assessments in line with regulatory standards, policies and procedures.
- Anticipate, assess and manage risk to children and young people in complex situations and produce high‑quality assessments.
- Plan, implement and review a range of interventions for children, young people and families/carers, adhering to statutory and operational standards.
- Manage a complex workload independently, establishing a network of internal and external colleagues for advice and expertise.
- Use supervision proactively to support practice, reflection, career development and meet Professional Development Review objectives.
- Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date records safely and confidentially, producing succinct, well‑structured reports.
- Engage proactively with colleagues and organisations to identify, assess, plan for and support the needs of children, young people and families/carers.
- Contribute to practice development through mentoring, modelling good practice and inter‑agency collaboration.
- Meet the Professional Capabilities Framework at Experienced Social Worker level and maintain HCPC registration.
Required profile
- Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and meeting its practice standards.
- Experienced Social Worker level competence, with a proven ability to manage complex caseloads independently.
- Strong risk assessment and decision‑making skills, with confidence to act in high‑risk situations.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and effective use of supervision.
- Ability to build and maintain effective partnerships with multi‑agency teams and external organisations.
