Senior Software Engineer – Advanced Electro‑Optical Systems

About the role

OpenWorks Engineering is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and develop the software that powers advanced electro‑optical systems used in air‑defence, counter‑UAS, surveillance and target‑tracking applications. You will work in a fast‑paced, high‑impact environment, taking ownership of software from concept through to deployment and seeing your designs operate in real‑world missions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and integrate software for electro‑optical systems that detect, track and target dynamic aerial threats.
• Manage the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and architecture design to testing, deployment and maintenance.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver reliable, high‑performance solutions for military and civilian customers worldwide.
• Handle multiple concurrent projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to strict defence standards.
• Continuously improve system reliability, performance and operational readiness.

Required profile

• Strong software development experience across the complete development lifecycle.
• Hands‑on, technically‑focused approach with the ability to solve complex engineering problems.
• Proven ability to work autonomously and take ownership of projects from start to finish.
• Experience in high‑impact, mission‑critical environments, preferably within the defence sector.
