Senior Software Engineer – Django & React (Hybrid, Cambridge)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a world‑renowned organisation building modern, cloud‑native digital services used by tens of thousands of users. The role is hybrid, with one day a week on‑site in Cambridge, and offers the chance to shape architecture, mentor colleagues, and deliver high‑impact products.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable web applications using Python/Django and React/TypeScript.
• Collaborate with product and DevOps teams to implement API‑first and event‑driven solutions.
• Write infrastructure as code with Docker and Terraform, and manage CI/CD pipelines in GitLab.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering standards across the technology function.
• Participate in on‑call rotation and ensure high availability of public‑facing services.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience with Python and Django.
• Hands‑on experience with Google Cloud Platform or a comparable cloud provider.
• Strong understanding of API‑first design and event‑driven architectures.
• Experience with containerisation (Docker) and infrastructure automation (Terraform).
• Familiarity with GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Front‑end expertise in React or TypeScript.
