Senior Software Engineer

About the role

Our client, a specialist engineering and technology business, is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team. You will work on embedded and Linux‑based platforms, delivering high‑performance software that directly impacts product reliability and user experience.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop high‑quality C/C++ software for embedded and Linux environments.
• Create applications that run efficiently within constrained computing resources.
• Architect software solutions for embedded and Linux‑based systems.
• Implement and optimise networking functionality using TCP/IP and UDP.
• Improve memory usage, performance and reliability of applications.
• Contribute to technical strategy, engineering standards and best practices.
• Collaborate closely with hardware, product and other software teams.
• Support code reviews, mentor colleagues and share technical knowledge.
• Own complex technical challenges from concept through deployment.

Required profile

• Strong commercial experience in C and/or C++ development.
• Proven track record developing software for Linux environments.
• Experience with networking protocols such as TCP/IP and UDP.
• Background in embedded or resource‑constrained system development.
• Excellent problem‑solving, analytical abilities and communication skills.
