Senior Statutory Reporting & Data Analyst

About the role

The Senior Statutory Reporting & Data Analyst will work within the Business Intelligence, Data Analytics & Reporting function to ensure the accuracy, integrity and compliance of institutional data used for statutory reporting and regulatory submissions. Reporting to the Head of Business Intelligence, Data Analytics & Reporting, the role combines data quality assurance, performance analysis and team leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and manage statutory data submissions (HESA, HESES, Graduate Outcomes, Discover Uni) ensuring accuracy and compliance with deadlines.
• Investigate and resolve validation errors, data anomalies and maintain comprehensive documentation and audit trails.
• Produce regular management information and performance analysis for senior stakeholders, covering continuation, completion, progression and graduate outcomes.
• Conduct cohort, programme and student‑level analysis to identify emerging trends and support decision‑making.
• Contribute to Business Intelligence initiatives, aligning statutory definitions with institutional reporting, developing dashboards and ad‑hoc analyses.
• Manage a junior Statutory Reporting and Data Analyst, providing guidance and oversight.

Required profile

• Proven experience in statutory reporting and data analysis within higher education or a regulated environment.
• Strong understanding of regulatory data requirements such as HESA, HESES and Graduate Outcomes.
• Ability to maintain data quality, documentation and auditability.
• Experience delivering performance reports to senior leadership.
• Leadership experience managing a small team.
