Senior Stress Engineer

About the role

Join Airbus Belfast’s advanced aerostructures team as a Senior Stress Engineer. You will lead structural analysis and sizing of commercial aircraft components from concept through production, ensuring compliance with airworthiness standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform static, fatigue and damage‑tolerance stress analysis on composite and metallic aircraft structures using NASTRAN and related tools.
• Author and approve stress certification reports, production drawings and support material review board (MRB) decisions.
• Collaborate with design, loads, materials, manufacturing and test engineers to resolve structural issues and integrate systems.
• Develop and validate finite‑element models in line with Airbus and certification requirements.

Required profile

• Minimum HNC in an engineering discipline with at least 3 years of stress engineering experience.
• Proven ability to work independently and produce technical reports and presentations.
• Strong interpersonal skills for interaction with engineers at all levels.

Required skills

• NASTRAN finite‑element analysis.
• PATRAN/Hypermesh modelling for composite and metallic materials.
• Experience with Airbus ISAMI, Bombardier Goliath or NASGRO tools for fatigue and damage‑tolerance analysis.
• Technical report writing and production drawing approval.
