Senior Structural Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join a leading consultancy’s Glasgow team. You will lead the design and delivery of complex building projects, ranging from high‑rise residential towers to single‑home extensions, and will have the opportunity to work on unique conservation‑care projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead structural design and analysis across a variety of sectors.
• Manage projects from concept through construction, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and to quality standards.
• Act as the primary technical liaison for clients, architects, contractors and other stakeholders.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, allocate resources and oversee site inspections.
• Provide construction‑phase support, attend design meetings and review/approve calculations and technical reports.
• Mentor junior engineers and graduates, fostering their development.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards and quality procedures.
• Support business development and client relationship activities.

Required profile

• Chartered Engineer (MIStructE/MICE) or actively working towards chartership.
• Proven track record of independently delivering building structures projects.
• Broad technical expertise across different structural materials.
• Excellent communication and client‑facing skills.
• Commercial awareness and strong project‑management capabilities.
• Passion for collaboration, mentoring and team development.

Required skills

• Proficiency with industry‑standard structural analysis and modelling software.
