Senior Support Worker – Residential Childcare

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Senior Support Worker to join our residential children’s home in Histon, supporting young people aged 6‑17. Working closely with the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager, you will help deliver trauma‑informed, safe and nurturing care while leading shift teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise residential support workers during shifts, ensuring high standards of care.
• Provide direct, trauma‑informed support to children, promoting stability and personal growth.
• Mentor and develop team members, modelling best practice and encouraging professional development.
• Assist the management team with safeguarding, risk assessments and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Participate in on‑call and occasional sleep‑in duties, receiving additional night payments.

Required profile

• Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare.
• Relevant experience working in residential children’s settings.
• Ability to work flexibly across full‑time shifts, including occasional night duties.
• Commitment to delivering trauma‑informed care.
