Senior Support Worker – Residential Childcare

About the role

The Senior Support Worker will join one of Blue Elephant Childcare's residential homes in North Devon, providing high‑quality care and support to children and young people. This permanent, full‑time position offers a dynamic environment where each day brings new challenges and rewarding experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver day‑to‑day residential support to children, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.
• Lead and mentor junior staff, fostering teamwork and professional development.
• Plan and facilitate activities that promote personal growth, education, and wellbeing.
• Maintain accurate records, complete required documentation, and adhere to safeguarding policies.
• Participate in on‑call duties and provide sleep‑in coverage as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum of one year experience as a Residential Support Worker in a children’s home.
• Preferably more extensive experience at a senior level, demonstrating leadership and initiative.
• Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare or an equivalent credential.
• Strong commitment to child welfare, with a compassionate and positive attitude.

Required skills

• Knowledge of residential childcare best practices and safeguarding procedures.
• Ability to manage on‑call schedules and sleep‑in allowances.
