Senior Systems Administrator – Glasgow/Edinburgh (Hybrid)

About the role

SRG is hiring a Senior Systems Administrator to join a fast‑growing global SaaS client. The role is hybrid, based in central Glasgow or Edinburgh, and offers the chance to own and modernise a complex Windows and macOS environment while mentoring junior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Act as subject‑matter expert for Windows, macOS, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and core Microsoft services.
• Administer and improve Microsoft 365 suite (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Entra ID).
• Manage modern endpoint devices via Intune across Windows 10/11, macOS and iOS.
• Support and maintain Hyper‑V virtualisation, storage and backup platforms.
• Lead 2nd/3rd line escalations, perform root‑cause analysis and implement preventative measures.
• Drive patching, system hardening and vulnerability remediation.
• Contribute to IT upgrades, migrations and broader improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, runbooks and asset records.
• Mentor and share knowledge with junior IT staff.

Required profile

• Proven experience in systems administration across Windows and macOS environments.
• Hands‑on expertise with Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Intune device management.
• Strong understanding of Active Directory, GPO, DNS, DHCP and core Microsoft infrastructure.
• Demonstrated experience with Hyper‑V, backup solutions, disaster‑recovery planning and resilience testing.
• Solid networking knowledge (LAN, WAN, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls).
• Ideally proficient in PowerShell automation.
• Desirable exposure to Linux, Terraform, Ansible, Teams telephony, IIS and DR simulations.
