Senior Systems Administrator – Hybrid (Glasgow)

About the role
We are seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to join a fast‑growing SaaS company in Glasgow. The role is hybrid, with around three days a week in the central office and the remainder remote. You will own and modernise a diverse IT environment, mentor junior engineers and drive best‑practice across identity, endpoints and infrastructure.
Key responsibilities
- Act as subject‑matter expert for Windows, macOS, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and core Microsoft services.
- Administer and improve Microsoft 365 suite – Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint and Entra ID.
- Manage modern endpoint devices (Windows 10/11, macOS, iOS) via Intune.
- Support and maintain Hyper‑V virtualization, storage and backup platforms.
- Lead 2nd/3rd line escalations, perform root‑cause analysis and implement preventative measures.
- Drive patching, system hardening and vulnerability remediation.
- Contribute to IT upgrades, migrations and broader improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, runbooks and asset records.
- Mentor and share knowledge with junior IT staff.
Required profile
- Proven systems administration experience across Windows and macOS environments.
- Hands‑on expertise with Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Intune/device management.
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory, GPO, DNS, DHCP and Microsoft infrastructure services.
- Experience with Hyper‑V, backup solutions, disaster‑recovery planning and resilience testing.
- Solid networking background – LAN, WAN, VLANs, VPNs and firewalls.
- Ideally proficient in PowerShell and automation.
