Senior Systems Engineer – Bristol

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join a world‑leading aerospace R&D team in the South West of England. The role focuses on system safety for both existing and next‑generation aerospace products, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse industry requirements and create design proposals for new aerospace systems.
• Lead design efforts to meet customer requests and emerging industry needs.
• Capture requirements and author system/sub‑system specifications.
• Perform fault tree analysis, Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Common Cause Analysis to assess potential failures.
• Model solutions, deliver design reviews and validate designs.
• Create verification specifications and standard operating procedures for testing.
• Develop functional hazard assessments, preliminary and full system safety assessments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related science discipline (or Professional Engineer certification).
• Strong knowledge of electronic systems and aerospace product development.
• Demonstrated experience with ARP4761 and ARP4754 or equivalent safety‑critical standards.
• Proven ability to work on complete systems in safety‑critical industries (e.g., aerospace, defence, medical, nuclear).
