Senior Technician (Sound)

About the role

The University of Oxford is opening the new Stephen A. Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities, a state‑of‑the‑art venue that includes a concert hall, theatre, cinema and rehearsal spaces. As Senior Technician (Sound) you will lead the audio side of technical services, ensuring safe, reliable and high‑quality sound for a wide range of performances and events.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the technical lead for all audio systems across the Centre’s venues.
• Install, operate and maintain d&b audiotechnik, QSC PA systems and Yamaha control surfaces.
• Support artists, production teams and event staff during rehearsals and live performances.
• Troubleshoot audio issues quickly and maintain system reliability.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety and rigging regulations.
• Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.

Required profile

• Significant experience in live arts, music or event technical roles.
• Deep knowledge of professional audio networks such as Dante.
• Proven ability to work under pressure and resolve technical problems.
• Strong understanding of health & safety standards for performance venues.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
