Senior Town Planner – Preston (Hybrid)

About the role

Penguin Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Town Planner to join a well‑established independent planning consultancy in Preston. The role offers genuine autonomy, strong client exposure and the chance to work on a varied portfolio of residential, commercial and mixed‑use projects across the North West.

Key responsibilities

• Manage planning applications, appeals and pre‑application submissions from inception to determination.
• Provide strategic planning advice for residential, commercial and mixed‑use developments.
• Prepare high‑quality planning statements, supporting documents and reports.
• Liaise with local planning authorities, consultees and stakeholders to secure approvals.
• Lead project timelines, budgets and deliverables effectively.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to business development.

Required profile

• MRTPI qualified (or close to chartership with relevant experience).
• Background in UK planning consultancy or local authority.
• Strong understanding of the UK planning system and legislation.
• Excellent written communication and report‑writing skills.
• Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
