Senior/Specialist Occupational Therapist – Specialist Education

About the role

We are seeking a Senior/Specialist Occupational Therapist to join a dedicated multi‑disciplinary team within a specialist education setting for children and young people with additional needs. The role focuses on integrating occupational therapy into everyday learning for students aged 7‑19, supporting their development of independence, confidence and functional skills.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a specialist caseload of pupils with complex needs, including autism, sensory processing differences and attachment difficulties.
• Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments and deliver evidence‑based interventions.
• Design and implement therapy programmes aligned with EHCP outcomes and clinical recommendations.
• Collaborate closely with teachers and the wider multi‑disciplinary team to embed therapy into daily classroom practice.
• Provide training, advice and consultation to staff to promote best practice.
• Maintain accurate clinical records in line with HCPC and RCOT standards.
• Contribute to the development of resources and therapeutic approaches to improve student outcomes.

Required profile

• Recognised degree in Occupational Therapy and current HCPC registration.
• Experience working with children and young people with complex needs, particularly autism, ADHD and SEMH.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
