SEN/SEMH Teacher – Specialist School (Sept 2026)

About the role

We are seeking a passionate, resilient and dedicated SEN/SEMH Teacher to join a specialist school in Croydon supporting children and young people aged 6-19 with a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver creative, accessible lessons across KS1‑KS5.
• Support students with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, and additional learning needs.
• Implement behaviour support strategies and personalised learning plans (EHCPs).
• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to support engagement and progress.
• Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, and senior leaders.
• Track progress and contribute to reviews and reporting.
• Promote emotional regulation, resilience, and positive outcomes for all learners.

Required profile

• A qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent) or experienced SEN educator.
• Confident working with children and young people with complex needs.
• Skilled in behaviour management and de‑escalation strategies.
• Patient, empathetic, and resilient under pressure.
• Passionate about making a difference in alternative/special education.
• Able to adapt teaching to meet individual learning needs.
