Service Engineer – Field Maintenance

About the role

Scot JCB is seeking a skilled Service Engineer to join its Dumfries team. You will travel to customer sites across the region, performing maintenance, repairs and servicing on JCB machinery to the highest standards.

Key responsibilities

• Repair and maintain machines on‑site, ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications.
• Respond to breakdowns, diagnose faults and carry out corrective actions.
• Complete daily paperwork, timesheets and job cards accurately.
• Order parts and coordinate with the parts department.
• Collaborate closely with the service supervisor and mentor apprentice engineers.
• Perform depot inspections and repairs as required.
• Identify and report any safety‑critical defects.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ or SVQ) in Construction Plant, HGV or Light Vehicle.
• Experience working with construction plant equipment.
• Ability to prioritise tasks in a busy environment.
• Strong customer‑service orientation.
• Good IT literacy.
