Service Engineer - Smoke & Fire (South West)

About the role

Swegon is looking for a Service Engineer to join its Service department in a standalone role, working on customer sites to provide skilled fire and smoke damper control services. The engineer reports to the Area Service Manager and works remotely from the South West of England, such as Reading, Basingstoke, Guildford and High Wycombe, so candidates must be based there or ready to travel daily.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, commission and service smoke and fire dampers, control panels and ventilation equipment
• Fault finding and communicating technical information and site requirements back to the Service office
• Complete relevant paperwork on the online platform and keep an audit trail of site servicing
• Develop working relationships with customers and colleagues, and identify commercial opportunities through lead generation
• Carry out Dynamic Risk Assessments and comply with company policies, including those needed for REFCOM, Safe Contractor and CHASS accreditation

Required profile

• Experience as a Service Engineer with smoke, duct work and fire damper equipment
• Basic knowledge of ventilation and smoke damper control, and customer-facing communication
• Health and safety awareness, including risk assessments and method statements
• GCSE or equivalent, and an engineering or mechanical qualification
• Full driving licence and computer literacy
• ACRIB / CSCS card or another safety awareness course

Required skills

• Previous duct work experience
• Base-level electrical and wiring knowledge
• Desirable: manufacturer training, HVAC and sound controls knowledge, practical smoke/fire damper experience, lead generation forms, Level 2/3 NVQ in engineering or refrigeration, controls qualification
