Service Engineer – Waste Water Systems

About the role

We are seeking a Service Engineer to join our fast‑growing, family‑run SME in the water sector. Based in Gloucester, you will cover the south side of the M25, responding to maintenance, repair and commissioning requests for wastewater pump systems.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional customer service through expert product and technical knowledge.
• Install, commission, service and repair pumps, pump systems and related mechanical equipment.
• Conduct scheduled site visits, produce detailed reports and recommendations.
• Attend emergency call‑outs, perform repairs and communicate effectively with the team.
• Produce risk assessments, method statements and ensure safety at all times.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on wastewater systems and identify faults.
• Produce work summaries, manage tasks and update schedulers.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness, stock levels and stay up to date with company policies.
• Participate in the on‑call rota to provide out‑of‑hours cover.

Required profile

• Technical knowledge of water boosting technology and packaged pump stations.
• Experience in the pump industry or construction‑related roles.
• Confined Space Entry qualification.
• Current CSCS card.
• Some electrical training.
• Self‑motivated with a “can‑do” attitude and high workmanship standards.
• Excellent problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities.
• Emergency First Aid at Work qualification.
• Clean driving licence.
• Effective communication skills (verbal, written, email).

What we offer

• Salary £35,000 – £45,000 per annum.
• Overtime paid at time and a half.
