Service Engineering Manager

About the role

Our client, one of the UK’s largest privately‑owned suppliers of fleet management technology, is seeking an experienced Service Engineering Manager to lead a mobile engineering team. The role combines hands‑on technical support with strategic oversight to ensure high‑quality service delivery across client sites.

Key responsibilities

• Provide real‑time technical guidance to field engineers and resolve on‑site issues.
• Maintain health & safety compliance and quality control to minimise repeat visits.
• Act as the primary liaison between field and office teams, managing client relationships and handling complaints.
• Conduct regular site audits, engineer assessments and performance reviews against KPIs.
• Represent engineering in cross‑departmental meetings, contributing to operational strategy and process improvement.
• Support senior leadership with hiring, disciplinary actions and team development.

Required profile

• Strong experience managing field‑based engineering teams, preferably in a 4‑on/4‑off shift pattern.
• Technical understanding of CCTV, telematics or automotive electrical systems.
• Proven ability to handle reactive situations and flexible shift planning.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel regularly to London and visit the Midlands office weekly.
