Service Locator – Underground Utilities (Plymouth)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Service Locator to join a busy construction project in Plymouth. You will work on a live site, locating and marking underground utilities before any digging begins, ensuring safety and compliance throughout the project.

Key responsibilities

• Locate and clearly mark underground services using CAT & Genny and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) equipment.
• Issue and manage permits to dig, ensuring all paperwork is up to date.
• Brief site teams on service locations and safe digging practices.
• Maintain accurate records and markings throughout the contract.
• Monitor work to ensure it follows permit rules and safety standards.

Required profile

• Valid CSCS card.
• BPSS clearance (or eligibility for it).
• Minimum 2 years experience in utility locating.
• Knowledge of CAT & Genny and GPR equipment.
• Understanding of HSG47 safe digging practices.
• Strong on‑site communication skills.
• Eligibility for security clearance (5 years UK residency and a valid passport).
