Service Manager – Residential Care Home

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Service Manager to lead a well‑established residential care home in Reading, providing specialist support for adults with mental health needs, learning disabilities and autism. This permanent, full‑time position offers a varied and rewarding environment with clear pathways for progression.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day operational management of the home, ensuring resources are used effectively to deliver high‑quality care.
• Collaborate with the Service Development Team on resident selection, assessment and transition.
• Maintain dynamic support plans that reflect each resident’s needs, aspirations and regular reviews.
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and National Minimum Standards.
• Promote a safe, development‑focused environment that meets practical, physical and emotional needs.
• Conduct risk analysis, implement assessments and develop mitigation plans.
• Support health and wellbeing initiatives for all residents.
• Assist senior managers with contract monitoring, reporting and management information.
• Liaise professionally with external agencies and support staff communication.
• Partner with HR on recruitment, staffing strategies, policies and procedural development.
