Setting Out Engineer – Residential Projects (Glasgow)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Setting Out Engineer to join one of Scotland's leading civil engineering and groundworks firms. The role focuses on residential groundwork projects across the Central Belt, combining site‑based work with office documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Set out foundations, roads, drainage systems and housing plots on site.
• Interpret technical drawings, site plans and survey data.
• Liaise with site managers, subcontractors and project teams to ensure accurate execution.
• Complete measurement, calculation and surveying records.
• Produce and maintain relevant office documentation and survey logs.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Setting Out Engineer or Site Engineer in residential groundworks.
• Willingness to commute to the main office in Livingston and travel to sites across the Central Belt.
• Ability to work both on‑site (approximately 70%) and in an office environment (approximately 30%).
• Interest in progressing to senior management roles such as Project Manager or Contracts Manager.
