Sewing Machinist

About the role

Our client in Hastings is looking for a Sewing Machinist to join the production team. The role offers full training on the machines and provides a pathway to a long‑term position within a supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor sewing machines to produce quality products from a range of materials.
• Interpret design specifications and programme the machines accordingly.
• Load, set‑up and adjust machines for each production run, ensuring correct thread colours and design placement.
• Inspect finished items to confirm they meet quality standards.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe work area and collaborate with the production team to meet deadlines.

Required profile

• Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques.
• Ability to work with light to heavy materials.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Capability to work efficiently under time constraints.

Required skills

• Operating sewing machines.
• Programming machine designs from specifications.
• Machine set‑up and adjustment.
• Reading and interpreting design specifications.
