Shift Analytical Chemist

About the role

The Shift Analytical Chemist will join a multinational chemicals manufacturer in North Cheshire, supporting the central analytical team. The role involves testing a wide variety of samples from internal departments and external customers on a rotating shift pattern.

Key responsibilities

• Collect liquid and gaseous samples from multiple site locations.
• Analyse organic, inorganic and environmental samples using GC, HPLC, ICP, MS and Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy.
• Perform density, colour and wet‑chemistry tests as required.
• Validate results, report findings and investigate any anomalies.
• Respond to unscheduled analytical requests and emergency situations.
• Carry out basic instrument maintenance, calibration and record‑keeping.

Required profile

• HND or BSc degree in Chemistry, Analytical Science, Forensic Science or a related discipline.
• Recent hands‑on industrial experience with wet chemistry, GC and HPLC; experience with ICP or MS is advantageous.
• Valid manual driving licence.
• Strong time‑management skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Team‑oriented attitude with good collaboration skills.
