Shift Electrical Craftsperson – Birmingham Hospital

About the role

Equans is seeking a Shift Electrical Craftsperson to join the team at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. This permanent, full‑time position works on a rotating shift pattern (2 days 7 am‑7 pm, 2 nights 7 pm‑7 am, 4 days off) supporting the Acute PFI Hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain all electrical services for the NHS Trust at the Acute PFI Hospital.
• Carry out work in line with EQUANS KPIs and contract requirements.
• Interpret and work from instructions, drawings and specifications without supervision.
• Set up new electrical work using appropriate tools, equipment and machinery.
• After training, work from tower scaffolding, MEWPs, ladders, step ladders and within confined spaces.
• Perform unsupervised maintenance and repairs, reporting any defects or unusual circumstances to the supervisor.

Required profile

• Approved electrical apprenticeship or equivalent qualifications (e.g., C&G Part A & B, City & Guilds 236, 2330/2365, EAL QCF Diploma, NVQ Level 3, AM218 Wiring Regulations).
• Valid driving licence.
• Ability to pass a DBS Standard check.

Required skills

• Electrical installation and maintenance.
• Interpreting electrical drawings and specifications.
• Use of tower scaffolding and Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWP).
• Work on ladders, step ladders and in confined spaces.
• Knowledge of the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
