Shift Electrical Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Shift Electrical Engineer to join a leading UK manufacturer with over 100 years of history. The role involves maintaining and improving manufacturing equipment on a 3‑shift pattern, Monday to Friday. You will work closely with production teams to ensure minimal downtime and support continuous improvement projects.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on manufacturing equipment.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults quickly and effectively.
• Perform fault finding on PLC‑controlled machinery.
• Maintain three‑phase motors, control circuits and variable speed drives.
• Troubleshoot electrical safety circuits and relay logic.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Complete maintenance documentation using the CMMS.
• Support continuous improvement projects and equipment upgrades.
• Work safely and comply with all Health & Safety procedures.
• Collaborate with production teams to minimise machine downtime.

Required profile

• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
• ONC (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering.
• Strong electrical fault‑finding experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with PLC fault diagnosis, three‑phase motor control, relay logic and variable speed drives.
• Familiarity with Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron or Telemecanique equipment.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics.
• Good IT skills and experience using maintenance management systems.
