Shift Electrician – Heavy Engineering

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Shift Electrician to join our heavy‑engineering team in Lydney. The role involves hands‑on maintenance and fault‑resolution on large‑scale industrial plant within a continuous‑process environment.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair electrical faults on heavy industrial machinery.
• Maintain AC and DC motors, generators, drives and associated equipment.
• Perform fault finding on motor control systems, PLC‑controlled equipment, instrumentation and electrical distribution networks.
• Work on medium‑ and low‑voltage power systems, cranes, lifting gear, compressors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Install, service and test electrical equipment and lighting systems.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and emergency breakdown repairs.
• Record activities in SAP/CMMS and identify recurring failures for improvement.
• Support Management of Change (MOC) and operate under Electrical and Mechanical Permit‑to‑Work systems.

Required profile

• Significant experience as an electrician in heavy engineering or continuous‑process industries such as steel, mining, power generation, cement or similar.
• Proven ability to work safely in a demanding production environment.
• Strong analytical skills for complex fault diagnosis.
