Shift Engineer – Days & Nights (9‑Week Rota)

About the role

Greencore is seeking a Shift Engineer to join its Consett manufacturing site. The role works on a 9‑week rotating schedule covering both days and nights, supporting the production of chilled ready meals for leading UK retailers.

Key responsibilities

• Complete fault finding, planned and preventative maintenance on plant and equipment to maximise reliability and performance.
• Diagnose equipment issues, determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain clear communication with the operations team about engineering activities and schedules.
• Prioritise internal customer requests to maximise production uptime.
• Record stock movements from engineering stores to ensure accurate stock control.
• Identify and recommend improvements for health and safety, operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Required profile

• Completed accredited engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification with appropriate certification.
• Experience operating as an engineer in a multi‑skilled, manufacturing environment.
• Proven ability to work with maintenance engineering systems.
• Dual‑skilled in both electrical and mechanical engineering.
