Shift Engineer – Hotel

About the role

The Shift Engineer will join the engineering team at Jumeirah Carlton Tower, a luxury hotel in Knightsbridge, London. Working on a rotating shift, you will ensure that all mechanical and electrical systems operate smoothly, supporting the high standards of guest service and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain full knowledge of company procedures and policies and adhere to them.
• Inspect and keep all mechanical and electrical systems and tools in good working order.
• Respond to emergency maintenance faults via the reporting platform, prioritising health & safety and guest impact.
• Update the maintenance reporting platform in real time while on duty.
• Conduct daily patrols of front‑of‑house and back‑of‑house areas to identify corrective repairs, such as replacing light bulbs.
• Report any fire life‑safety issues immediately to the manager or security.

Required profile

• Electrical or Mechanical UK trade qualification.
• Experience working in a luxury hospitality environment.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities to address complex engineering issues.
• In‑depth knowledge of local building codes, safety protocols and environmental regulations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for liaising with internal teams and external contractors.
