Shift Engineer – Maintenance

About the role

Elis UK Limited is seeking a Shift Engineer to join its maintenance team at the Brixton site. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will support daily breakdowns, planned preventive maintenance (PPM), equipment upgrades and new installations, ensuring the plant runs safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out breakdown repairs, PPM tasks and equipment updates in line with health and safety standards.
• Collaborate with the engineer on the opposite shift to ensure smooth handovers and share best practices.
• Provide input for continuous improvement of plant machinery and maintenance processes.
• Identify long‑running issues with the Engineering Manager and propose effective solutions.
• Report incidents, accidents and near‑misses according to company health‑and‑safety policies.
• Maintain clear communication with production staff regarding repair progress.

Required profile

• Recognised mechanical or electrical qualification (e.g., C&G).
• Apprenticeship or similar indentures preferred.
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
• Commitment to follow site health‑and‑safety instructions and engineering standards.

Required skills

• Electrical installation and maintenance (18th Edition).
• Mechanical fabrication and maintenance.
• Electronic fault finding to component level.
• Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics and steam systems.
