Shift Mechanical Fitter – 4 on 4 off pattern

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Shift Mechanical Fitter to join a busy paper mill in Lydney. The role operates on a 4‑on‑4‑off pattern (2 days / 2 nights) and offers the chance to maintain critical plant equipment in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and respond to mechanical breakdowns to maximise plant availability.
• Diagnose, repair and optimise rotating equipment such as pumps, refiners and paper‑machine rolls.
• Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems, issue permits and follow strict safety procedures.
• Update maintenance schedules, record work in the CMMS and contribute to long‑term equipment improvements.

Required profile

• Formal mechanical craft qualification (NVQ Level 3 / C&G Level 3 Mechanical or equivalent).
• Proven experience diagnosing and repairing industrial plant machinery.
• Good understanding of health and safety legislation in a process environment.
• Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions.
