Shift Multiskilled Engineer – FMCG Manufacturing

About the role

We are looking for a Shift Multiskilled Engineer to join a leading FMCG food manufacturing operation in Leigh. The role involves both reactive and planned maintenance of production equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and supporting continuous improvement across the manufacturing lines.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on production equipment during a 2‑days/2‑nights shift pattern with four days off.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues promptly to keep lines running.
• Support the implementation of new machinery and technology upgrades.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment performance.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to optimise equipment reliability and safety.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and health‑and‑safety compliance.
• Provide technical guidance to colleagues when required.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering (e.g., HNC or equivalent).
• Experience working in the FMCG sector or a similarly fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong problem‑solving ability and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team on site in Leigh.
• Good knowledge of health and safety standards in engineering and manufacturing.
