Shift Technician – Building Services (Data Centre)

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Shift Technician to join a fast‑growing data centre environment. You will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of critical building services, ensuring 24/7 availability of power, cooling and fire safety systems.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, monitor and maintain mechanical and electrical building services in a 24/7 data centre.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and respond to reactive tasks on UPS, generators, CRAC/CRAH, HV/LV infrastructure, fire suppression and cooling systems.
• Monitor the Building Management System (BMS) and critical alarms, escalating issues according to site procedures.
• Perform routine inspections, fault finding and first‑line diagnostics to minimise downtime.
• Maintain accurate shift logs, maintenance records and incident reports.
• Liaise with specialist subcontractors and support vendor management activities.
• Participate in shift handovers and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Experience working in critical environments such as data centres, hospitals, banking or utilities.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and/or electrical building services.
• Ability to work effectively within a rotating shift pattern.
• Calm, detail‑oriented and safety‑focused mindset.
