Shift Technician

About the role

Skanska is seeking a Shift Technician to join the building services team at Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge. You will be responsible for maintaining a wide range of hospital equipment, plant, and systems while ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance, testing, repairs and new installations on electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Inspect and test portable appliances, LV and ELV systems, and mechanical plant such as boilers, pressure systems and medical gas installations.
• Work safely in confined spaces and adhere to HTM, HBN and other statutory regulations.
• Document maintenance activities and report any non‑conformities.

Required profile

• Relevant vocational qualification (BTEC/HNC, City & Guilds Craft certificate) or recognised apprenticeship.
• Certificate in 17th Edition IEE Regulation (current) for LV electrical work.
• Competent Person status for LV electrical systems and for at least one mechanical system (e.g., boiler, pressure, medical gas).
• Ability to work shift patterns in a hospital environment.
