Simulation & Modelling Engineer (PhD)

About the role

As a Simulation & Modelling Engineer you will join a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to develop high‑fidelity mathematical models that simulate complex engineering systems. The role bridges academic research and practical engineering, allowing you to see your models progress from concept to prototype.

Key responsibilities

• Develop mathematical and physics‑based models of complex engineering systems.
• Build simulation environments using MATLAB and Simulink.
• Analyse system behaviour and performance through modelling and simulation.
• Support model‑based systems engineering (MBSE) activities across the engineering lifecycle.
• Create verification and validation strategies for simulation models.
• Design test environments and assist with system integration.
• Participate in technical design reviews and collaborative problem‑solving sessions.
• Review and improve simulation code to ensure quality and performance.
• Work alongside multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative solutions.

Required profile

• PhD (or near completion) in Physics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Computational Science, Electronics or a related quantitative discipline.
• Experience developing mathematical or physics‑based models.
• Strong analytical, mathematical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of systems engineering principles and MBSE.
