Sister/Charge Nurse – Medical Assessment Unit (MAU)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our fast‑paced Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) as a Sister/Charge Nurse. This senior nursing role combines direct patient care with leadership responsibilities, supporting staff development and driving quality improvement in a busy acute setting.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the day‑to‑day operational management of the MAU ward.
• Act as the named nurse for a defined group of patients, coordinating and overseeing their care journey.
• Provide visible role‑model leadership in line with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
• Collaborate closely with the Ward Manager to ensure safe, effective, and high‑quality care.
• Support staff development, mentorship, and performance improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to achieving Trust objectives and local performance targets.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (NMC‑registered) with substantial acute‑care experience.
• Demonstrated leadership ability and a commitment to patient‑centred care.
• Strong communication skills and the capacity to act as a role model for colleagues, patients, and visitors.
• Ability to work proactively within a multidisciplinary team.
