Site Engineer – Groundworks & Setting Out (Edinburgh)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join a leading Scottish groundworks contractor. The role focuses on setting out and surveying residential groundwork projects across the Central Belt, combining field work with office documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Set out foundations, roads, drainage systems and housing plots on site.
• Interpret technical drawings, site plans and survey data.
• Collaborate with site managers, subcontractors and project teams to ensure quality and safety standards.
• Carry out on‑site measurements, calculations and verification of works.
• Prepare and maintain survey records and relevant documentation in the office.

Required profile

• Proven experience in setting out and surveying within groundworks or civil engineering projects.
• Ability to work both on site (approximately 70%) and in an office environment (approximately 30%).
• Willingness to commute to the main office in Livingston and various sites across Edinburgh, Glasgow and the Central Belt.
