Site Manager – New Build & Refurbishment Projects

About the role

We are partnering with a well‑established regional contractor to recruit an experienced Site Manager to oversee a portfolio of new‑build and refurbishment projects across Berkshire and surrounding areas. Reporting directly to the Project Manager, you will act as the Number 2 on site, ensuring smooth daily operations and high standards of quality, safety, and programme delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager in day‑to‑day site operations.
• Oversee internal fit‑out and external works packages.
• Coordinate subcontractors and ensure delivery against the programme.
• Monitor progress, report milestones and flag any delays.
• Maintain health, safety and quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
• Conduct regular site inspections, toolbox talks and snagging checks.
• Assist with short‑term programming, look‑ahead planning and site logistics.
• Manage deliveries, site set‑up and sequencing of trades.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Site Manager or Assistant Site Manager, preferably stepping up.
• Background in new‑build and refurbishment projects within a main‑contractor environment.
• Strong organisational and communication abilities.
• Proactive, hands‑on approach to site management.
• Relevant qualifications such as SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid (preferred).

Required skills

• SMSTS certification.
• CSCS card.
• First Aid certification (preferred).
