Site Manager – Recycling, Waste Management & Fuel Production

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Site Manager to lead the safe, compliant and efficient operation of a well‑established fuel production and waste‑management site in Cheshire. You will own health & safety, environmental compliance, operational performance and site budgets while driving production, quality and maintenance excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily biomass fuel production to meet quality, volume and customer demand.
• Champion Health, Safety and Environmental standards across all site activities.
• Use KPIs, data and reporting to improve safety, production, quality and cost.
• Own fuel quality control and drive continuous improvement.
• Coordinate with contracts, logistics and customers to manage deliveries and resolve operational issues.
• Build and maintain senior‑level relationships with key customers and plant operators.
• Identify and manage operational and contractual risks, escalating when necessary.
• Lead, develop and performance‑manage the operations team.
• Plan and coordinate maintenance to maximise plant availability.
• Control budgets, optimise resources and deliver cost‑effective operations.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives, including waste reduction and efficiency gains.

Required profile

• Background in recycling, waste management or fuel production at site‑manager level.
• WAMITAB/COTC certification preferred (client can assist if not held).
• IOSH or equivalent health & safety qualification.
• Level 5 leadership apprenticeship or equivalent experience/qualification.
• Proven experience in operations management within waste management, fuel production or manufacturing.
