Site Services Mechanical Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a leading UK food manufacturer in Poole. The role focuses on maintaining and improving the site’s utilities and building services, covering steam systems, heat exchangers, pipework, water systems and related fabrication work.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on steam, water and building services systems.
• Maintain boilers, valves, pumps, heat exchangers and associated pipework.
• Perform fabrication and general mechanical maintenance across the site.
• Support legionella control activities and coordinate external contractors.
• Complete maintenance records and permit‑to‑work documentation using the CMMS system.
• Identify continuous‑improvement opportunities and assist with site upgrade projects.
• Collaborate with electrical and mechanical contractors to ensure safe and efficient work.

Required profile

• Engineering qualification such as NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent.
• Experience in manufacturing, facilities, utilities or building services environments.
• Strong mechanical fault‑finding and maintenance skills.
• Experience with steam systems, pumps, valves, heat exchangers or pipework is highly advantageous.
• BOAS qualification beneficial (training may be provided).
• Welding or fabrication experience advantageous.
