Skilled Centreless Grinder – Aerospace Manufacturing

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Centreless Grinder to join an aerospace‑focused manufacturing team in South East England. The role is full‑time, four‑day week, and involves operating a range of specialised grinding equipment to produce high‑precision components.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and run manual and centreless grinders, including Wickman Scrivener, Ghiringhelli, Cincinnati or Tschadun machines.
• Operate Myford grinders where required.
• Support second‑operation equipment such as thread‑rolling machines, part markers, drill banks, torque testers and deburrers.
• Perform first‑off and job‑run inspections on both first and second operation parts.
• Maintain machine efficiency, record cycle times and complete daily maintenance check sheets.
• Adhere to health‑and‑safety procedures and use appropriate PPE.

Required profile

• Proven experience in aerospace manufacturing or a similar high‑precision environment.
• Ability to read micrometres and work to tolerances of 0.5 µm.
• Strong attention to detail and numeracy.
• Team‑oriented mindset with good communication skills.

Required skills

• Operation of centreless grinders (Wickman Scrivener, Ghiringhelli, Cincinnati, Tschadun).
• Use of Myford grinder (desirable).
• Interpretation of engineering drawings and specifications.
• Micrometre measurement and tight‑tolerance machining.

• Competitive salary £30,000‑£35,000 per year, dependent on experience.
