Small Claims RTA File Handler

About the role

We are looking for an ambitious individual to join our claims team in Liverpool, managing a portfolio of Small Claims Track litigated files. The role offers hands‑on litigation experience, covering both liability and quantum matters, under the guidance of experienced supervisors.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of Small Claims Track litigated matters from instruction through to resolution.
• Develop and implement case strategies on liability and quantum issues.
• Negotiate settlements with claimants, insurers, solicitors and other parties.
• Draft witness statements, court documents and other legal pleadings.
• Instruct and liaise with Counsel where required and ensure all court and OIC portal deadlines are met.
• Maintain accurate case management and billing records and meet performance, quality and client service targets.

Required profile

• Previous legal experience gained through education or a law firm/insurer environment.
• Experience handling legal files or claims matters.
• Good understanding of the Highway Code and basic Road Traffic Act principles.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.
• Positive, proactive approach to learning and professional development.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
• Professional, empathetic and confident when handling sensitive situations.
• Team player with a collaborative mindset and basic knowledge of court rules and procedures.
